When The Day
Begins To Breathe

2020 | Lyrics

When The Day Begins To Breathe was birthed from a lockdown-induced place of dissatisfaction and despondency. During this time of wrestling with God, I found myself regularly asking Him, “What do you want me to do?”. Instead, in the throes of my restless searching, I discovered He was lovingly drawing me towards this question: “God, what do you want to do in me?”.

This significant line of inquiry began a journey of rediscovery: a realignment to the knowledge of God and a returning to the place of intimacy. Taking inspiration from how “friendship with God began in the shade of the tree”, this EP is a personal exploration of the Garden, from fellowship in Eden to intercession in Gethsemane and eternity in the New Jerusalem.

If you’re in a season of wandering through the valley of doubt or even the dark night of the soul, may you uncover God beckoning you into the shelter of communion through these songs. When the day begins to breathe, you will be home with Him.

One Pursuit
(I’ll Love You)
feat. Alarice

2020 | Chords

During the Covid19 lockdown in Singapore, one of the questions that arose from our hearts was: What are you wanting from us, God? Alarice and I penned this song as a response of wholehearted love to Jesus amid a season of global shaking, that when everything that can be shaken is shaken, our hearts would still be fully in love with Jesus. One Pursuit was written as part of a collaborative campaign by two local ministries to flood the airwaves with songs of hope.

Witness
feat. Abbie Simmons
& Jonathan Ogden

2020 | Chords

Following a visit to the martyrs’ memorial in Oita, Japan, Jonathan Ogden and I wrote Witness, as a response to what the Lord spoke to our hearts, in response to the words of Revelation 12:11, of a people who would love Jesus even unto death. This song became something of an unofficial theme song for the 4000 students gathered at Revive Europe in Germany at the end of 2019. The production of the album was a glimpse of the nations joining as one to sing the song of the Lamb, with Abbie Gamboa (UPPERROOM, USA), Jonathan Ogden (UK), Alive Worship (Germany), Caleb Chan, Lee Wei Jie and Jerry Chua (Singapore) coming together to produce this worship song.

Light / Dust
feat. Jonathan Cho

2019 | Chords

My friend Jonathan and I wrote this song as we meditated on the idea of Light representing divinity, and Dust representing humanity. We were gripped by the dramatic juxtaposition of these two ideas, that a holy God would reach out towards sinful man in his love and compassion. It still humbles me that the God who spoke light into darkness remembers our name.

Reward

2018 | Chords

I was in a season of meditating on what it meant for God in Genesis 15 to say that He was Abraham’s exceedingly great reward. It is only when He becomes our great reward that we are able to make sense of and respond rightly to Jesus’ question in Matthew 16:26, “what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?”. Reward encapsulates several of my life verses and has become a personal and corporate response of wholehearted love and obedience.

Here In The Waiting

2015 | Chords

Recorded live on Pentecost Sunday 2015 in an intimate setting at the Penang House of Prayer in Malaysia, "Here In The Waiting" features a number of talented artists from all across Southeast Asia. The spontaneous and prophetic atmosphere of worshippers gathered in an upper room creates a unique dynamic that blends the best parts of Housefires and IHOP worship styles.

The album covers the themes of longing and desire for the Lord during this time as sojourners on earth. From the passionate anthemic "The Return" to the piano-driven, emotional title track, this album resonates with the deepest places of yearning while simultaneously leading the listener into deeper communion with God. The catchy "So Faithful" features the upbeat stylings of talented jazz musician, John Dip Silas backed by a live choir. Singer-songwriter Alarice lends her beautiful voice to "Surrender", an acoustic blend featuring sublime melodies buoyed by live string instruments.

The twelve original songs of "Here In The Waiting" were uniquely birthed from a place of prayer at PenHOP, capturing the authentic and anointed cry of this generation.
